Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund Salutes People Helping the Planet
In recognition of their dedication and outstanding work to save wildlife, protect habitats, and educate the local ranching community, our two jaguar guardians, Carmina Gutiérrez and Miguel Gómez, won the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund’s esteemed Conservation Hero Award earlier this month. The award applauds Carmina and Miguel for taking the northern jaguar under their wing and working tirelessly to protect these endangered cats. This inspiring duo knows where the jaguars roam and diligently follows their tracks and trails. Carmina and Miguel are the backbone of all work on the reserve, and their oversight has led to a better understanding of jaguar movements and activity patterns, as well as jaguar distribution and habitat needs.
This year, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) recognized eight recipients in seven countries with conservation hero awards, honoring individuals whose passion and commitment enable the success of conservation projects around the world. Each award recipient and their nominating organization will share a $1,000 award.
Since 2004, DWCF has honored almost 60 people around the world for their extraordinary conservation efforts. To learn more, visit www.disney.com/conservation.
