University Students
We use the Northern Jaguar Reserve to mentor young Mexican biology students and wildlife technicians who accompany visiting research scientists in the field. We provide these budding researchers with binoculars, field equipment, field guides, and taxonomic references.
Apprentices have gathered hands-on training studying birds, butterflies, plants, and, of course, jaguars. An annual amphibian and bat workshop has been organized for students each spring. We intend to continue facilitating relationships between these university-level students and expert biologists conducting field work on the reserve.
